Police Stop Robbery Suspect Thanks to Resident Tip

A resident tip resulted in the arrest of a wanted armed robbery suspect this week.

A local resident called the city Tuesday evening to report a suspicious man pulling on car door handles on the 6800 block of Race Track Road.

Police searched the area and observed a man matching the suspect's description pulling on car doors in a nearby neighborhood. Police stopped the suspect and uncovered a Polymer 80, 9mm ghost gun.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections where he was charged with weapons violations.

The individual is also a suspect in two additional incidents, with warrants for first and second-degree assault, armed robbery, firearm in the use of a violent crime, and felony theft.

Bowie Police were thrilled to apprehend this suspect, wanted in recent robberies at the Bowie Shell Station and Chase Bank on 450 earlier this month. Police emphasize that the suspect would likely not have been identified without the resident tip.

Suspects pulling car door handles is a longtime common crime in the region, and sometimes conducted by criminals with outstanding warrants. Their apprehension goes a very long way in combatting local crime.

Police ask residents to please continue to report suspicious activity like car-to-car door handle pulling to 9-1-1 or the city's 24/7 call center at 240-544-5700.
