City Updates Noise Ordinance

Responding to resident concerns about evening noise, the City Attorney working with the Code Office offered updates to the city noise ordinance.

Among the changes are higher initial fines, starting at $500 for first violations and $1,000 for subsequent violations. The nighttime noise hours will now begin at 9pm, consistent with county noise rules.

Code staff reminded the Council that violations are best reported directly, and can be reported anonymously. First time offenses will be addressed with a warning and reminder about updated rules.
