The Bowie Police Department is opening a Community Information Center at the Bowie Town Center this spring to help keep everyone safe and informed, staffed by officers and volunteers sharing public safety tips and job info. They’re also looking for residents’ feedback through a survey as they work on getting accredited for high standards in law enforcement.

Here are the highlights:

  • The Bowie Police Department is opening a Police Community Information Center in spring 2023 at Bowie Town Center.
  • The center will serve as an accessible information hub to improve public safety and community outreach.
  • Staff will include Bowie officers and volunteers providing public safety information and crime prevention awareness.
  • The center will not function as a police substation; emergency calls should still go to 9-1-1.
  • The Bowie Police Department is pursuing recertification with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Police Community Information Center at Bowie Town Center

The Bowie Police Department is opening a Police Community Information Center in spring 2023 at the Bowie Town Center on 15456 Emerald Way.

The Community Corner will serve as an accessible information center intended to improve public safety and give patrons and residents an additional community outreach and resource center.

The space will be staffed by Bowie officers and volunteers providing general public safety information, conducting crime prevention awareness, and sharing hiring information.

Hours of operation will be worked out subject to staffing availability. The location will be an information center only, and not a police substation. Service calls should still be referred to the Bowie Police Department at 9-1-1 for emergencies or 240-544-5700 for non-emergencies.

The Bowie Police Department is also working on its recertification with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. CALEA accreditation is meant to help ensure professionalism and high standards in law enforcement.

As part of the CALEA process, residents are invited share thoughts on the Bowie Police Department's community engagement and services to help them understand what they are doing well and where they can work to improve.

Residents are invited to take the survey here.
