County Puts Mitchellville Road Project Back on Track
Prince George's County is making progress on the years-long effort to improve Mitchellville Road.
County Council Member Ingrid Watson announced this week that Prince George's County Department of Public Works &Transportation plans to complete the lingering repaving and sidewalk project before the end of the year.
The schedule for the remaining work will see the county bring in a concrete crew to complete curb, gutter, and sidewalk construction connecting 301 to Mt. Oak Road.
The concrete work is scheduled to be completed mid-November. Milling is scheduled in late November with paving at the end of the month.
The whole project is scheduled to be completed with final striping in mid-December.
The road work saw extensive delays resulting from needed additional drainage and the addition of a large amount of sidewalk intended to improve walkability.
Prince George's County also has a significant funding backlog of road projects, including the delayed planned improvements to Race Track Road.
Kudos are owed to Dr. Isaac Trouth, longtime former Bowie Councilmember who worked with the county to initiate the improvements, and County Council Member Ingrid Watson, for following through on a commitment to push the issue with the county's Public Works Department.
Council Member Watson also credited the city's own Mati Bazurto, Director of Bowie's Business Operations, for working persistently with the county to advocate for and push these improvements.
Council Member Watson encourages residents with questions to contact her office for more information at District4@pg.co.md.us.
