The Prince George's County Public School system routinely updates school boundaries based on classroom capacity, community surveys, and public feedback. The latest proposed boundary changes for the 2023 – 2024 school year are out, with six Bowie schools impacted.
Pointer Ridge, Northview, Rockledge, Whitehall, Samuel Ogle, and Benjamin Tasker would see changes. The biggest change would come for Pointer Ridge, which being only at 48% capacity in 2021, would close completely. Recommendations will be presented to the Board of Education on October 13.
Residents are encouraged to share feedback at public hearings on October 20 and October 25 at 6pm. The board is expected to vote on the recommendations on November 10.
